PEARL CATCHERS

Children love to dive. Therefore, even toddlers who are not yet able to swim will be happy to join in the fun of diving to find a real treasure. This treasure can be a variety of objects, diving rings and other items. There are many ways to fish for treasure - children can fish with their hands, feet, with or without their head submerged (a version for toddlers who are not yet familiar with water). When preparing for this type of play, it is a good idea to provide your kids with goggles or children's diving masks.

WATER BALL TOURNAMENT

Children must divide into two teams. Each sets up in the water on opposite sides of the pool. We set up floating goals for water volleyball. The game consists of flipping the ball to the opponent's side and hitting the goal. If the ball falls into the goal - the team that threw the ball gains a point.

EVERYONE ON THE MATTRESS!

What is the game "Everyone on the mattress!" all about? You will need one, a mattress for learning to swim, which we will place roughly in the middle of the pool. On our signal, the children standing at the edges have to reach the mattress (any way they want!) and climb onto it. The idea is that the mattress should accommodate as many kids as possible at the same time. Of course, we don't have to mention that trying to get out of the water together will be a challenge and the children will end up in the water every now and then. Fun is guaranteed!

DEFENCE OF THE ISLAND

Our island can be a buoy, ball or other larger object floating freely on the water. In the game, the idea is that one of the children defends this buoy-island against other children by splashing them with water and not allowing them to get close. The rules that apply are:

  • a child touched by an island defender drops out of the game,
  • You can hide from the defender by dipping your head in water,
  • The child who reaches the island first, conquers the island and thus becomes its new protector wins.

UNDERWATER TUNNEL

We don't need any props or equipment for this game. What exactly does the game involve? The children stand in the water in line and apart, forming an underwater tunnel. The idea is that, one by one, each child swims between the legs of their peers - as accurately and as quickly as possible. We can measure the toddlers' time. If more children are playing, we can divide them into two teams and organise a team competition in this way. Whichever team swims through the tunnel faster, that team wins.

THE FIGHT FOR THE BOARD

Children get into pairs and lie belly down on the water. Each pair is given a board to hold with their hands (children lie on the water facing each other). The task is to push their pair mate to the other side of the pool using only their own footwork.

WATER BASKETBALL GAME

Prepare a traditional volleyball or inflatable ball and divide into teams. The number of players does not matter, but it is important that everyone can move freely in the water and not bump into teammates while bouncing the ball. Set up two floating baskets on opposite sides.

The game of water basketball is similar to traditional basketball. Each team starts by throwing a ball into the basket / each participant one throw. The team that scores more points wins.

TWO-A-SIDE WATER POLO

You will need an inflatable or traditional rubber or volleyball to play with. The kids should also be divided into two teams. It is a good idea to have at least six of them to make the tournament easier to play.

The rules of the water bumper game are very simple. Participants aim the ball at players of the opposing team. The opposing team members in turn have to avoid touching the ball with graceful movements. However, if the ball bounces off any part of the body, the player is knocked out and has to go ashore. His or her return to the game can, however, be taken care of by the other teammates if they manage to catch the ball right out of their opponent's hands during the batting attempt. The game continues until one team has knocked down all its opponents. There is complete freedom in the number of games played, and it is also possible to mix up the teams, which levels the playing field and provides interesting variety.

PURSUIT OF THE MACARONI SNAKE

The facilitator divides the participants into two teams. Practitioners in teams line up one behind the other. Each sits on a noodle like a "horse" and holds the end of the noodle of the person in front of them - in this way "snakes" are formed. The "snake" designated by the leader, moving across the pool, has the task of catching the other "snake" by grabbing it by the "tail". When successful - the teams swap roles.

WHO LONGER

Participants stand in waist-high water and form two circles. The task of each team is to bounce the ball as long as possible so that it does not fall into the water. If a team's ball falls into the water, the opposing team receives a point. The team that accumulates the most points wins. To make it more difficult, two balls per team can be introduced into the game.
