The Warsaw Sentimental Orchestra (WOS) is an ensemble with a taste for the old melodies of Polish pre-war revue and cabaret. Songs from the repertoire of Adam Aston, Wiera Gran or Mieczysław Fogg, arrangements by Henryk Wars and Rostworowski, performances by the Gold and Petersburski orchestras, Karasiński and Kataszek, constantly inspire them. Waltzes, tangos, foxtrots, rumba and slow-foxes - WOS selects the best of the riches of the stage and screen of the twentieth century and the post-war era and brings them to life with a contemporary musical sensibility, preserving the style and timeless charm of the old melodies.
The music of the time draws on American popular music, yet is embedded in the unique and lush culture of the Polish Bicentennial. Its unique finesse and energy was blowing up dance floors a century ago - and is blowing them up now. After all, pre-war Warsaw was known as the "Paris of the North", a place where Eastern and Western culture met. The Sentimental Orchestra brings this atmosphere into the present day - in the best of taste.
